The day before classes ended for students, we were lucky to have Dr. Steve Everett visit Howard to give a steel drum demonstration. He stayed all day, saw each lower school class, gave historical information about the origins of the steel drum, played several traditional pieces, and started up a conga line and limbo contest! Students were all smiles as Dr. Everett had them play with shakers along to his pieces - and it was a bonus at the end of the session when students could come try out playing the steel drum themselves!
