Dear Parents,
Please save the date of Thursday, April 12, for Music Mentions, the annual Lower School Spring Invitational! We have been working very hard to prepare songs and activities that the students can’t wait to show you. Rather than being a “performance”, this program is a glimpse into what we have been working on in Music class throughout the year. We would like to demonstrate how music is an important part of Howard’s curriculum, combining song, movement, rhythm, and working together to create something very special for all students. Since “working together” is an integral part of music-making, attendance to Music Mentions is expected for all students. The songs we sing depend on each student’s individual presence in class and it is crucial that each student be there to do his or her part in order for the group to succeed.
Students should arrive at Howard and be in their respective classrooms by 6:00pm on Thursday, April 12. A light snack of apples, string cheese, and water will be available for them before the program begins at 6:30pm. Each class has its own color - please have your child wear a t-shirt according to class color (preferably without a logo) and jeans. Please refer to the bottom of the page to see the class colors!
The show will take place in our outdoor amphitheater, so feel free to bring chairs and blankets. In the event of rain, we will move inside the Blackbox and music room. We also encourage the use of cameras and video cameras, so bring those too!
